THE COLOR OF OUR POWER

Background on Color and Power

For Modernism's great colorists—Kandinsky, Jung, Schoenberg, Joyce, van Gogh, — the color sense is a third Promethean gift, like language or fire. Completely mastering it is impossible, but the power it imparts to those who dare to handle it is as profound as that of light itself” Charles A. Riley II Color Codes 1995.

This workshop is the result of some thirty years of  study and practice with color theory and practice. Presentations and demonstrations of the Power Map have been made at many conferences and workshops. After two regional Association of Psychological Type presentations the author William E. Smith was invited to present at the 2002 International Conference of Psychological Type. The Power Map ha been tested in its beta form for more than two years.

MAPPING YOUR POWER

Background

The Power Map enables you to understand the power fields that you create in the environment around you. Your power fields are created by your purpose and move out from you forming a set of multi-dimensional dynamically interactive fields. The fields consist of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual impact you create from your relationships with your total environment.

Our ability to map your power field comes from the discovery that our preference for different colors reveals our habitual response to our environment. The model for this relationship is based on an initial insight by Ewald Herring a Czech physiologist who identified four color primaries, yellow, blue, green and red and demonstrated how they exert a complementary oppositional nature to each other. More recent research has confirmed that some of the cones in our retinas process blue and yellow light and others process red and green.

Each of these primaries has a distinct effect on our nervous system, yellow for examples has an exciting effect and blue a calming effect. Red and green for example affects out autonomic nervous system, overriding the effects of yellow or blue. Each color represents a nervous reaction to the environment and a nervous reaction onto the environment.

As our relationships to the environment are power relationship, then our preference for colors can map our power relationships.

The Dimensions of Your Power

This workshop gives you the necessary background to

Every purpose creates a power field. Just as the field of gravity is proportional to mass, so the field of potential created by purpose is proportional to its “mass” - the larger the purpose, the larger is the potential power field. Your actual power come from how strongly you believe in that purpose and how well you manage the three power fields that translate the potential of purpose into real (kinetic) power. The three fields are:

Each of us has a natural preference for how much we use appreciation, influence and control in the pursuit of our purposes.  The Power Map helps you to identify your pattern. It achieves this by giving you feedback in five dimensions
