How we think about purpose is probably the major factor in determining how we view our world, how we interact with it and what we decide to do about it. In this workshop we will:

1. Explore how purpose is part of the fabric of the universe and how that changes the fundamental way we think of ourselves our organizations and our world.
2. Review the results as an instrument that shows us our own purpose as a pattern of ideals, values and goals.
3. Discuss the implications for our families and organizations.

Our Power :

Power is our capacity to achieve our purpose. As such, purpose is the source of our power. In this session we will:

1. Explore the evolution of the concept of power in the social and physical sciences.
2. Demonstrate how the three different kinds of purpose—ideals, values and goals—produce the three different kinds of power: appreciation, influence and control.
3. Use the same instrument we used in the purpose section to map our preference for each of the three powers.

We will then use these concepts to explore our own experience with power and how the new concepts might help us deal better with power in our families, our work and our communities in the future.

Our Leadership :

Leadership is our capacity to appreciate purpose and use our influence to achieve our goals in a specific situation within time and space constraints. 

In this workshop we will:

1. Explore the evolution of the concept of leadership in the social sciences.
2. Explore our personal experience of leadership in our families, organizations and community.
3. Review the same mapping process that will show us how we use our purpose and power in very different situations. The map also makes recommendations about how we can make more effective use of our power.

We will close with a major discussion on how applying all these principles to the way we live our lives and carry out our work can contribute in addressing the greatest challenges of our times.
