THE DIMENSIONS OF YOUR POWER

Your Purpose and Preferred Power Pattern (The First Dimension)

We begin your feedback with your overall preference, your preference averaged over all dimensions.  This is expressed by two letters a capital letter followed by a small letter e.g. C-a.  The first letter indicates the overall power you use in relationship to the environment and the second indicates the power you believe the environment uses back to you. In this case the results indicate someone who prefers control in dealing with the environment and believes the environment will respond with appreciative power.

Your power map indicates that overall you appear as I-a - You prefer using influence power.

Preference for Means (The Second Dimension)

Often the means we choose to obtain our goals are different in nature from the goals we seek. This can be a boon in terms of giving expression to the full range of our powers but it can also be a source of misunderstanding. For example we might be seeking a very appreciative goal but we are going about it in a very controlling way. It is easy for others to misunderstand our intentions. as they mistake our means for our ends. This feedback will help clarify such differences.

Your Use of Power in Control-Centered Situations (The Third Dimension)

Control situations require decisions to be made. All the options have to be reduced to an actionable form. This is the time when you are most focused and paying least attention to your other powers. The control field is the smallest of the three. It is the power that gives actual form to purpose.  This section of the power map gives you feedback on your use of power in this very dense and focused field. .

Your Use of Power in influence-Centered Situations (The Fourth Dimension)

Influence situations do not  require decisions. They require us to help weigh many options,  persuade, negotiate and  strategize. This section of the power map gives you feedback on your use of power at this strategic relationship level.  This kind of power forms a four-dimensional  field around your control field. It is always in the background influencing your control level decisions. This feedback gives you an insight into how you use your power in this very dynamic process.

Your Use of Power in Appreciative-Centered Situations (The Fifth Dimension)

You use this power when faced with very open-ended situations, for example when you must hold  back from immediate action and attempt to understand the whole situation in new ways.  You draw on your appreciative field , which is   like your own personal culture or your personal gravity field. It is a reflection of everything you are, have been and will be spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. This is your "whole" field , the one that extends to the limits of your awareness.  So your selections here  tap into that appreciative-centered field to indicate the  tensions you typically encounter at this stage of your development.

You'll notice that the way you reduce tension is the same in all dimensions.  This mode is taken from your fifth color choice, the center between your projections and your dislikes, between environment, relationships and what you are and do. This mode then gives very significant information about your central mode for managing conflict, and influencing your world.

YOUR POWER FIELDS

Your Projected Power Field – The Power You Are Striving For

Your purpose is the source of your power. It is your purpose that creates potential power. The bigger your purpose, the greater your potential power. You would like your goals to be aligned with others. You would like to understand what others really want. In doing so you seek to improve your own self-esteem and your prestige in the eyes of others.

The potential of your purpose is made real by how well you can imagine using influence, your relationships, in pursuit of your purpose.. You would like to develop new relationships that will give you meaning and recognition. You would like to be able to commit yourself fully.

You also need to use your appreciative powers to create or find appropriate conditions in which to develop such relationships and pursue your purpose.  You would like an environment in which everyone knew their role and lived in peace and harmony.

Your Current Field – The Power You Are Experiencing Now

As you move to fulfill the potential created by your purpose by imagining new settings, improved conditions, improved relationships and actions you can see how far you are away from your potential by examining your current field:

aIn terms of your current goals -  You are conforming to demands placed on you but you are not sure you are fully appreciated.

b ) In terms of your current relationships - You have powerful passionate relationships with others but are still not sure of the result. You are not sure that equal effort is coming back.

c) In terms of your current environment or situation -  You are in an environment that, for the most part provides you with the challenges you seek. You have sufficient space to pursue interesting novel ideas.

Your Power Constraints – And the Way Forward

To the extent that you are not able to move in the directions suggested by your desired purpose, relationships and environment you can look to effects, from the past.

You  look at the kind of relationships you don't like.

You  look at the type of environment you don't like.-

You consider your current environment and see how you can modify your current conditions. Again consider your attitude, can it be changed? What would it take to change your feelings about your current conditions?

Finally, you  look at the environment and change or modify your current environment to be more in line with the one you would like. You then carry out the same step with your relationships.  You examine your current relationships to se how they could be changed, modified or improved in the direction of your desired relationships.

Removing constraints is generally easier than making improvements so this is suggested first. Working with the environment produces the broadest changes with the least effort and may put you in a different set of relationships so that is why starting with your environment is suggested before dealing with your relationships.  Dealing with both of these will clear the space for your desired purpose to emerge with more freedom.
